3D MAMMOGRAM

Frequently asked questions

What Is 3D Mammography?

3D mammography, also known as breast tomosynthesis, is an innovative breast imaging technique that offers enhanced capabilities compared to traditional mammography. Similar to conventional mammography, 3D mammography employs X-rays to generate images of breast tissue, aiding in the detection of lumps, tumors, or other irregularities. However, 3D mammography produces more detailed and comprehensive images of breast tissue.

In 3D mammography, multiple slices of the breast are captured from various angles. These images are then compiled to create a clear and detailed three-dimensional reconstruction of the breast. Radiologists can review this reconstruction one slice at a time, akin to flipping through pages in a book. This method facilitates easier detection of any potential abnormalities, allowing healthcare providers to identify areas of concern with greater accuracy and precision.
